Server setup

Server setup in Minecraft

Amethyst Runeworks is a server-side plugin for Minecraft Java Edition 26.3 and Java 25. Players do not need a client mod or resource pack. The current beta builds were tested on Paper 26.3 build 40 and CraftBukkit 26.3 build 4660. Spigot, Purpur, and other forks are not tested yet; Folia is not supported.

  1. Download the latest published beta JAR from CurseForge and put it in the server's plugins folder. Remove older Amethyst Runeworks JARs first.
  2. Restart the server.
  3. Join and run /arw version to check the loaded version. Use /arw guide for the current recipes; /arw guide give gives a fresh physical copy after an update. Look at a machine and run /arw inspect if it does not start.

The plugin creates plugins/AmethystRuneworks/config.yml. Restart after editing it. Each machine has enabled and buildable switches. enabled: false stops that type. buildable: false prevents new working assemblies while existing saved machines can still run. The config also changes fuel yields, machine speed and energy cost, tower range and damage, network limits, and visual effects. Set visuals.quarry-animations: false to hide the quarry animation without changing mining.

machines:
  quarry:
    enabled: true
    buildable: true
fuel:
  yields:
    coal: 150
    lava-bucket: 500

These are examples from the default config, not a complete replacement file. Keep the existing config and change only what you need. Shared access is on by default: anyone can use machines and item ports. Owner records remain saved in case a server owner enables private access later.

Machines far from players

Normally a machine pauses when its chunks unload. An optional, limited chunk loader can keep a selected area running:

  • Look at a complete machine's front controller or lever and run /arw chunks on for the normal 3×3 chunk area.
  • /arw chunks on 0 requests only its own chunk; /arw chunks on 2 requests a 5×5 area if the server's limit allows it.
  • /arw chunks status shows the selection. /arw chunks off releases it.

The area must include the machine, work field, and needed cables or containers. A chunk loader does not make natural crop growth or hostile spawning work without players when vanilla itself requires nearby players. It also does not make up work missed while the server was stopped.

WorldEdit schematics

WorldEdit is optional. The plugin works without it. The project has a clean .schem file for each of the eleven machine bodies. They omit old stone ground and corner markers. The quarry schematic does not add the surrounding redstone-dust loop; build that for the size you want. After pasting a schematic, supply tools and materials, connect energy if needed, and turn the lever on. Download each schematic directly from its machine page. Get the latest plugin release from CurseForge, and join the Discord community for support and updates.

This is a beta. Back up an existing world and the plugin's data before installing or updating it.
